I'm using these gloves out of the intended technical application as they are intended for bicycle riding I believe. They are now moto gloves for me.
For several years I've worn Fox Dirtpaws when riding the trails. Don't get me wrong, I love the Dirtpaws...but gloves (to me)while riding are annoying, in general. Of course, if you don't want your hands to look like you've roasted them over a fire, then you better wear gloves.
My problem with any riding glove (I prefer Fox) is that when you need the dexterity of naked fingers (cleaning goggles, checking GPS, making phone call during a stop, paying gas station attendant, etc), you don't have it.
With these half gloves, you have your fingers. So much better, in my opinion. Just like with convectional riding gloves the palm and knuckle protection is there. After a twelve hour day of riding the sand in Michigan, I had no blisters.
I'm sure the other brands of half gloves are just as good.
You can't go wrong with this style of glove. If you do want full hand protection then I strongly recommend the Dirtpaw.
Any of the Fox moto gloves I've owned always have held up to my demands. I've never had them bust out at seams or wear out in the fingertips prematurely (with halves you don't have the fingers to wear out).

Package arrived just as I was headed out to the trails. These gloves are well-made, fit perfectly, and suited my mid-summer bike ride perfectly. Padding is just enough for shock absorption and the material provided for excellent grip in spite of all the sweat. Great buy.

Used these right after they came in. They are very comfortable and fit me perfect. The pads are placed exactly where they need to be. I thought they gave my hands and wrist more support as well than the cheap ones i got from walmart. They also look really cool and feel very well-made. These do have a velcro strap. I think some older models of these did not.
